5 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking Safari Uganda

Your journey begins with a warm welcome from your Escosphere Safaris driver-guide in Kampala or Entebbe. After a short briefing, drive westward toward Kibale Forest National Park, home to over 1,400 chimpanzees and 13 other primate species.

Enjoy scenic views of tea plantations, rolling hills, and the Albertine Rift Valley. Arrive in Fort Portal for lunch, then continue to your lodge bordering the forest. Spend the evening relaxing or take an optional nature walk around the Bigodi Wetland, known for birdlife and monkeys.

After an early breakfast, report to the Kibale Park headquarters for a briefing before your chimpanzee tracking adventure. With your ranger guide, enter the forest to search for these intelligent and playful primates. You’ll have one full hour to observe and photograph them as they feed, groom, and swing through the trees.

After lunch, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most diverse wildlife area, passing through scenic crater lakes and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Begin the day with a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains to spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, and antelopes. You’ll also see bird species like the African fish eagle and grey-crowned crane.

Return for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. The cruise provides close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and hundreds of waterbirds.

After breakfast, head south toward the misty jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha Sector — famous for its tree-climbing lions. Keep your camera ready in case you spot them resting in fig trees!

Arrive in Bwindi by evening, check in at your lodge, and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Today is the highlight of your safari — gorilla trekking!
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing from your ranger guide. Enter the forest in small groups to search for your assigned gorilla family. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on their location, but once you find them, all the effort is worth it. Spend an unforgettable hour observing the gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact.

Later, return to your lodge for lunch, then start the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening, marking the end of your 5-Day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Tracking Safari with Escosphere Safaris.
